FASHION EXPRESSIONS PROJECT

The Fashion Expressions Project, was a unique 12-month Fashion Training Programme that sought to Advance & Mentor Aspiring Fashion Professionals & Promote Self-agency on Sexual & Reproductive Health. The Project was implemented by International Needs Ghana in partnership with UNFPA and the PRADA Group. It begun in May 2022 with six months of training at International Needs Ghana’s Centre for Empowerment and Enterprise Development (CEED), Adidome. The trainees were taken through the rudiments of Fashion such as Pattern Drafting, Basic Design techniques, Batik Tye and Dye Production, Millinery, Merchandising and Quality Control.

The project beneficiaries undertook six months of industrial attachment at Eight (8) Fashion Houses in Accra. 

At the end of the industrial attachment, a Fashion Show was organized for the trainees to showcase their talents and skills acquired. The trainees produced and modelled three (3) garments each at the Close-out Fashion Show. The high-profile Fashion Event was addressed by the UN Resident Representative of UN to Ghana, The UNFPA Country Director and the Executive Director of International Needs Ghana. It was attended by representatives of Foreign Missions in Ghana, key stakeholders in the Fashion Industry in Ghana as well as relatives of the 18 trainees.
