EMPOWERMENT OF SURVIVORS OF CHILD LABOUR PROJECT (ESCLAP)
The objective of this one-year project was to prevent 70 children withdrawn/ prevented from CSEC/ fishing and rehabilitated, from relapsing and to support them with formal education or vocational skills training. The project was implemented in 13 communities in the Greater Accra and Central Region; 40 children were supported in formal school. This support provided to the children prevented them from dropping out and increased their performance in school activities.
International Needs Ghana (INGH) in collaboration with International Needs New Zealand (INNZ) embarked on this journey. 12 parents/ caregivers out of 200 were provided with technical backstopping for their small enterprises while the remaining 188 parents/ caregivers were actively engaged with economic empowerment programmes to enhance the viability of their businesses to support their children in school. Through these supports, most of them became resilient and were able to provide for the needs of their children.
