International Needs Ghana, has launched the International Needs Group Assistance Programme (INGAP), a newly enhanced assistance programme to support the education of children. The support is expected to help more needy children to perform better in their education, transit to higher learning, and lead meaningful lives in the future.

Under INGAP, children will be supported in groups with each group having a membership of between 5 and 45 children.

Having run International Needs Child Assistance Programme (INCAP) for over 20 years, International Needs Ghana is happy to introduce INGAP which will address some of the limitations of INCAP.

As the name implies, INGAP targets a group of students numbering between 5 and 45 and the financial support raised goes to support all persons in the group. INGAP is an all-inclusive child assistance model and will complement the efforts of International Needs Ghana to ensure that less privileged girls and boys have access to quality primary and secondary education and contribute to the attainment of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal 4.

The first phase of the programme targets three hundred and seventy-five (375) children from two schools; Kpogede and Amrahia Community Schools for a five-year period. The number shall be increased as the years go by.

The Executive Director of International Needs Ghana, Mr. Cromwell Awadey, stated that the success of INGAP depended on the collaborative efforts of parents, community leaders, Community Child Protection Committees, teachers, and children. He noted that if stakeholders support the programme,

“We will be celebrating distinction and excellent results”.

He commended the Head Teacher and staff of Kpogede Community School for their hard work which has seen the school emerging winners in the Basic Education Certificate Examination in the North Tongu District several times.

The Executive Director’s Excellence Award of One Thousand Ghana cedis (GH¢1,000)was presented to Miss. Grace Damekwor Akwada, a former student of KCS for emerging the best student for the 2020/2021 academic year.
