Children are our most valuable resource (Herbert Hoover, 31st President of the United States of America)
International Needs Ghana today joined 100s of dignitaries from the Department of Children, under the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Civil Society Organizations and children, to commemorate 40 years of national machinery on child rights implementation in Ghana.
The occasion also marked 30 years of Ghana ratifying the United Nations Convention on the rights of the child. The celebration was on the theme, “40 years of Child Rights Promotion and protection: Charting the way Forward”. An adolescent girl, out of the team of fifteen that represented International Needs Ghana participated in the National Panel discussion on the theme. They were selected from the Promoting Adolescent Safe Spaces (PASS) project; being implemented by International Needs Ghana in partnership UNFPA and UNICEF in the Central Region.
All the participants of PASS had the rare opportunity of meeting dignitaries from the government and Children’s department and were exposed to great opportunities through the messages and personalities they encountered which would positively impact their lives forever.
Let us all come together to ensure our children are protected from abuse and exploitation. Our savior Jesus has the interest of children at heart and says “…let the children come to me. (Matthew 19:14)
