class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">PROMOTING ENHANCED, SAFE AND PROTECTIVE ENVIRONMENT FOR CHILDREN (PESPEC)<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-29c1f55 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"29c1f55\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The European Union partnered with International Needs Ghana to implement \u00a0the PESPEC project from January 2014 to December 2016. The objective of the project was to create a protective and safe environment for children in 21 communities in 3 MMDAs in the Central Region namely, Effutu, Gomoa East and West.<\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This was achieved through capacity building and networking with informal community level child protection structures; children engaged as active participants in the prevention and response to child abuse and exploitation issues. Child protection institutions\/agencies were empowered at the districts to adequately prevent and respond to child abuse and exploitation, in partnership with informal community level structures in the targeted communities.<\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Community child protection committees (CCPC) were established in the \u00a021 project communities. Additionally, 21 school and community-based children\/youth clubs were established. The leaders \u00a0of the School\/community based children\/youth clubs received training in the legal frameworks of child protection thereby ensuring children\u2019s proactive participation in the project.<\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">INGH collaborated with the Regional and MMDAs to plan, implement and monitor the project at the community level.
